MAROUBRA SEALS SPORTS & COMMUNITY CLUB LTD.
A BRIEF HISTORY
The Maroubra Seals Sports and Community
Club was first envisaged in 1962 when members of the Seals Winter
Swimmers Club headed by Mr. Bob Harron and Mr. John Shore decided
that this group of sportsmen needed a home of their own, where
they could conduct social gatherings and meetings about the future
of their club. On the 11th August 1964 the official club premises
at its current location opened its doors as a registered club
in the Maroubra area.
Initially consisting of limited
facilities such as an indoor squash courts, bars, electronic gaming
machines and snooker tables, the Maroubra Seals Sports & Community
Club's immense growth over the years is reflected through large
architectural renovations taking the Club to its current stage
as a leader in the Club Industry.
Over the years the Maroubra Seals
Sports & Community Club has supported the local community
though generous donations to institutions such as Maroubra and
South Maroubra Surf Life Saving Clubs, and numerous local charity
organizations.
The Maroubra Seals Sports and Community
Club has grown to a membership of over 10,000
members employing
over forty staff members.
The Board of Directors is dedicated
to channelling financial assistance to the growing needs of the
community and offers a range of social interactive networks for
the members of the Maroubra community.
With these ideals firmly in place
the Maroubra Seals Sports & Community Club can continue to
be a beacon for the Maroubra community.
