MAROUBRA SEALS SPORTS & COMMUNITY CLUB LTD.
A BRIEF HISTORY
The Maroubra Seals Sports and Community
Club was first envisaged in 1962 when members of the Maroubra Seals Winter
Swimming Club and the Maroubra RSL Club headed by Bob Harron and John Shore decided
that they needed a licensed club, where
they could meet socially, conduct meetings and at the same time financially assist lifesaving on Maroubra beach. On the 11th August 1964 the newly registered club opened its doors
at its current location.
Initially consisting of limited
facilities such as an indoor squash courts, bars, electronic gaming
machines and snooker tables, the Seals
Club has grown to become one of the leaders in the Club Industry. The
Club has grown to a membership of over 10,000
and employs
over forty staff.
Over the years the Maroubra Seals
Sports & Community Club has supported the local community
though generous donations to institutions such as Maroubra and
South Maroubra Surf Life Saving Clubs and numerous charitable
organizations.
The Board of Directors is dedicated
to channelling financial assistance to the growing needs of the
community and offers a range of social interaction for
the members.
With these ideals firmly in place
the Maroubra Seals Sports & Community Club can continue to
be a beacon for the Eastern Suburbs community.
